More e-pass only lanes at Skyway
January 26, 2003 | 12:00am
The Philippine National Construction Corp. (PNCC) announced yesterday that the Skyway System will open additional "e-pass only" lanes to Skyway users.
Starting tomorrow, lanes six and seven at the Skyway Plaza A, designated as exact toll/absolutely no change lanes, will be opened for northbound traffic as "e-pass only" lanes from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. northbound counter-flow will no longer be implemented.
All northbound motorists who pay tolls in cash or coupons will have to exit through the lanes at Skyway Plaza B.
From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., depending on the traffic volume, lanes six and seven of the Skyway Plaza A will remain as "e-pass only" lanes for southbound counter-flow traffic. Otherwise, these lanes will be closed until 6 a.m. the following day.
The PNCC said that the move is in response to the growing number of e-pass users utilizing the systems elevated section.
It added that to-date, there are about 65,000 e-pass holders of which 18,000 use the elevated section. Pete Laude
