Bothered by his conscience, a truck driver surrendered yesterday to the Pasig City police, a day after he killed two youngsters and injured four others in a freak traffic accident in Antipolo City.
The suspect, Noel Magsalin, 31, of Barangay San Miguel, Pasig City gave himself up to Senior Superintendent Ernesto Atungal, the local police chief at about 12 noon. He was immediately turned over to the Antipolo City police for proper disposal.
Magsalin admitted he panicked when the engine of his delivery truck conked out while maneuvering a hilly portion of Sitio Ahon, in Barangay San Roque at about 4:30 p.m.
Magsalin said he turned the steering wheel to the right, prompting the vehicle to fall on its side hitting two tricycles loaded with passengers.
Killed on the spot were Bethea Eleonor, 13, of Block 16 Lot 15 Staniel Ville and Mary Ann Casimiro, 13, of Sitio Knight of Columbus both in Barangay San Roque. Eleonor and Casimiro were first-year high school students. Non Alquitran
