Senate minority leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr., has pledged P10 million to support the operation of Teatro Marikina, in a bid to make Marikina City as a seat of culture in Metro Manila.
"Filipino culture should be expressed and fully developed," said Pimentel, the guest of honor during the recent formal opening of Teatro Marikina.
Pimentel said he never thought that "he would live to see the day Marikina would have its own cultural center," as he urged city Mayor Maria Lourdes Fernando and her fellow Marikeños to aspire to be the seat of culture of Metro Manila.
For her part, Fernando thanked the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) for guiding them all the way in their preparations for Teatro Marikinas opening. She cited Nanding Josef, vice president and director; Dennis Marasigan, assistant director, the office of the Artistic Director and the CCP Performing Arts Department. Non Alquitran
