A 19-year-old alleged drug addict committed suicide by hanging himself inside his room in Tondo, Manila, early yesterday.
Homicide investigators of the Western Police District identified the victim as Jorge Luciano, of Building 21, Unit 37, Temporary Housing, Tondo.
Initial investigation showed that hours before he was found dead, the victim was seen drinking gin by his mother, Diana, inside his room. At about 6:30 a.m., Diana went to her sons room to invite him for breakfast. When she opened the door, she was shocked to see Jorge hanging from a ceiling beam of the room with a 36-inch nylon cord looped around his neck.
The reason behind the alleged suicide has yet to be established as the victim did not leave a suicide note, police said.
Meanwhile, a 44-year-old inmate at the Manila City Jail died on Saturday night at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center.
Police said Reynaldo Peralta, a native of Pangasinan, and resident of 1928 San Antonio Street, Malate, was declared dead by Dr. Audie Cuntapay at the male ward of the JRMMC at about 11:15 p.m.
According to police, Peralta who was arrested for alleged drug trafficking, suffered high fever and dehydration on Nov. 25. As such, he was rushed to the MCJs infirmary.
Police said Peraltas condition worsened and he was rushed to the JRMMC at about 7:40 a.m. last Saturday. Mike Frialde
