Marquez set for ‘psycho’ test

Parañaque City Mayor Joey Marquez said yesterday he is all set to undergo a psychological test next week to prove that he is not the "crazy one" when he married his now-estranged wife, actress Alma Moreno.

Marquez told The STAR that he himself had the test scheduled.

"Naiinip na nga ako (to take the test). But to prove (to everybody) that I am not crazy, inunahan ko na sila magpatingin. I am sure I will pass the test," the mayor said.

Marquez said he was not ashamed of taking the test even with his position as an incumbent local chief executive.

"This (test) would be the proof that I’m not the one who is crazy," he said.

Marquez said he is also ready to spend Christmas with his children, minus Moreno.

When asked if he and TV personality Kris Aquino are still seeing each other, Marquez’s voice suddenly turned sad as he said "no."

The mayor, who is also a TV comedian, filed for the annulment of his marriage to Moreno early this year amid reports that she was allegedly carrying an affair with a disc jockey from Cebu.

Marquez claimed Moreno was a spendthrift throughout their decade-long marriage. He added that she would rather go out with her friends than attend to the family’s needs.

In her counter-affidavit, Moreno denied the allegations, saying she would even "spoon feed" her husband while he used the computer.

She said Marquez only wants their marriage annulled so that he could be free to be with the person being rumored to be his girlfriend.

The Marquez-Aquino relationship grabbed the headlines last August.

Aquino’s brother, Tarlac Rep. Noynoy Aquino, openly criticized the affair, saying Marquez was very much a married man.

The annulment case is being heard at the sala of Parañaque Regional Trial Court executive judge Helen Ricafort.

During the first hearing, which was the conciliation meeting between the two parties, Moreno reportedly screamed and hit Marquez after he supposedly said he regretted having married her.

The mayor said a second hearing date has yet to be scheduled.
