Suspect Dominic Liggyu, 18, of Sitio Libjo, Barangay Moonwalk, was collared last Friday morning in his safehouse. He had been in hiding since the July 24 slaying of Mariloa Vasquez and her daughter, Bea Marie Jamero.
Liggyu’s cohort, Michael Andrade, 20, was arrested immediately after the killing. A subdivision security guard saw Andrade climb over a wall and noticed his bloodied shirt and immediately accosted him.
With Liggyu’s arrest, city chief of police Superintendent Ruben Catabona, said the case is now considered closed.
"Liggyu also admitted his participation in the crime, but said it was his companion who was the mastermind," Catabona said in a telephone interview.
A press statement from the Parañaque City government tagged Liggyu as the city’s "sixth most wanted criminal."
According to the statement, Liggyu was arrested by a police team composed of elements of the warrant and subpoena unit led by SPO 3 Teodoro Papa with assistance from the San Felipe municipal police.
The city police received information that Liggyu was sighted in Olongapo City and Zambales.
The team conducted surveillance in San Felipe and arrested the suspect who surrendered peacefully.
Liggyu and Andrade were both employed by Vasquez. – Nikko Dizon
