Studes fall prey to thieves

A 17-year-old student who refused to give his money to thieves was stabbed dead in Tondo, Manila, early yesterday. Charles de los Reyes, a first year high school student from Baguio City died of a stab wound in the back.

Police said Delos Reyes was with several companions having a night out at a videoke joint in Pier 2, North Harbor when seven suspected thieves blocked their path. One of the thieves allegedly asked Delos Reyes for his money, but when the latter refused to give in to the demand, the former stabbed him in the back.

Meanwhile, in Mandaluyong, five men stabbed and seriously wounded another student who refused to give his cellphone and money to them.

Emiliano Galope, 23, of 2670 Arellano St., Malate, Manila sustained a stab wound in the left side of his body and is now in serious condition at the Medical City hospital.

Galope was waiting for his girlfriend at the Petron Gas Station along Shaw Blvd., in Barangay Wack-Wack, when the five suspects approached him, demanding for his Nokia 3310 cellphone and his wallet.

But Galope fought back, prompting one of the suspects to pull out a bladed weapon and stab him. The suspects fled in different directions after seeing the bloodied Galope fall to the ground. Mike Frialde and Non Alquitran
