Binondo trader joins war vs vendors

-
The Metro Manila Development Authority’s drive against illegal sidewalk vendors got a support yesterday from a building owner in Binondo who suffers from the same problem.

In his letter to Department of Public Service chief Rafael Borromeo, the owner of Dee C. Chuan Building at the corner of Soler and Claro M. Recto streets in Binondo complained of the presence of illegal hawkers in the area who are "causing much damage and prejudice to the legitimate business establishment."

Ernesto Llamzon, officer-in-charge of the security force of the building, said the sidewalk vendors are so defiant of the law that they even put a fixed stall right in front of their establishment.

Llamson alleged that the vendors are being protected by a Manila policeman he identified as PO3 Jimmy Soriano, who even has his own stall in the area. Nestor Etolle
