This as the city council in a session Thursday approved a resolution authorizing Mayor Jaime Fresnedi to negotiate possible contracts necessary for the implementation of the City Alternate Route Entry Exit System (CARES).
"We are excited with this development," Fresnedi said of the councils approval. "This will definitely help in making the CARES road a reality."
Ordinance 02-045 established the CARES as an alternate road network aiming to decongest the national road and ease traffic heading for the busy Alabang Interchange. It connects all existing road networks within the subdivisions between Victoria Homes in Tunasan to Filinvest Corporate City in Alabang.
Once operational, CARES is expected to reduce the number of motorists using the national road because those from the subdivisions will no longer come out to use the said roadway.
According to Councilor Raul Corro, principal author, the resolution is for the "peace of mind" of homeowners and private individuals who may be affected by the interconnection between subdivisions.
"Some of these individuals want to be sure that Mayor Fresnedi is authorized to negotiate such contracts on behalf of the City Government, even if he is actually authorized by law to do so," he said.
