Two men were injured while some P3-million worth of properties were destroyed after a fire razed a public market in Quezon City early morning yesterday.
Injured in the fire at the Tamasco Market in Barangay Tatalon were Richie Liberto and Rodolfo Vidal, who were trying to save their belongings.
Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which reached Task Force Charlie, a high-level alarm. Twenty firetrucks were needed to contain the blaze which began shortly before midnight. Firemen declared the fire out at 2:10 a.m.
Fire officer Danilo Dugay said that 150 stalls, selling various items from apparel to food, were burned. They said damage to property could reach up to P3 million, affecting two-thirds of the entire market.
"Much has been damaged by the fire. Thats why we declared it in a high-level alarm since the area was thickly populated and the streets were narrow, which made it very difficult for us," Dugay said. Katherine Adraneda
