PRC: Beware of fake documents
September 1, 2002 | 12:00am
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has warned professional licensure examinees of the proliferation of fake documents which can nullify the results of their examinations.
Latest in the PRCs all-out war against unscrupulous syndicates is the alarming discovery of some 20,000 fake postage stamps that were submitted by examinees for the mailing of their Reports of Ratings for various licensure examinations.
Reports of Ratings of examination results, with fake stamps, were recently returned to the PRC by the Philippine Post Office.
In addition, the PRC annulled the examinations taken by 45 examinees in the physicians licensure examinations this August as they submitted fraudulent or invalid certificates for a refresher course allegedly taken in accredited institutions.
The refresher course is required for examinees who have failed three times in licensure examinations conducted by the Board of Medicine. For the refresher course to be acceptable, it should be taken in a medical school or college for a period of one year.
"We urge the examinees to be vigilant in the use of only official documents or they will jeopardize their dreams of becoming professionals," PRC chairwoman Antonieta Fortuna-Ibe said.
To remedy the delay in the issuance of professional license due to the fake documents, Ibe is asking examinees who have taken various licensure examinations from July 2001 to December 2001 to personally visit the PRC starting Sept. 2.
