A 19-year-old girl hanged herself early yesterday morning inside her home in Barangay San Antonio, Quezon City after she allegedly broke-up with her boyfriend.
Victim Mylene Joy de Mesa, a second year college student, of 4 Batangas Road, Barangay San Antonio, was found hanging from a window by a leather belt tied around her neck.
Police sources said that De Mesa had been "visibly depressed" for several days after she had broken up with her long-time boyfriend.
She was last seen alive by her parents the night before at around 10 p.m. when she retired to her room. The victims brother, Andres, later found the victim hanging from the window grill of their room at about 12:30 a.m.
Mylene was hanging from the grill with the leather belt used as a noose. She was hardly breathing at the time and she was immediately brought to the nearby St. Agnes Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival at 1:25 am.
Investigators said that except for marks on her neck, they found no bruises or any marks on De Mesas body that could have made them suspect that there was foul play was involved. Matthew Estabillo
