Missing P51,000 puzzles Marikina City police

-
The Marikina City police are puzzled over the mysterious disappearance of P51,000 kept in a vault of a local cooperative intended for loans for its members.

Elements of the Marikina City police Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) are presently lifting fingerprints on the assaulted vault and other parts of the ICPM credit coooperative to determine whether the robbery was an inside job.

The robbery was discovered Friday when employees of the cooperative found their office located at the back of the Concepcion church in Bayan-Bayanan Ave., Barangay Concepcion ransacked and in disarray, when they reported for work at 8 a.m. To the employees’ dismay, the vault located at the far end was forcibly opened.

Police said the vault contained P51,000 which was scheduled to be withdrawn later in the day by their members who applied for loans. Jaime Vergel de Dios, the cooperative’s vice chairman said the suspects gained entry by destroying the window grills at the back of their office.

Police investigators said the suspects were familiar with the cooperative’s office.

Meanwhile, 10 residents of Marikina City, San Mateo and Quezon City filed estafa charges against a woman who allegedly collected from them P275 each in exchange for decent jobs.

Charged before the Marikina City police was Isabel Ebin, 29, of Malinao Street, Mandaluyong City.

The victims claimed they shelled out P275 each after Ebin promised them decent jobs. But after several months of waiting, not a single applicant was able to land a job so they decided to file the complaint. – Non Alquitran
