6 jueteng collectors nabbed

The Caloocan City police arrested six alleged jueteng personnel during an operation on a suspected gambling den over the weekend in Camarin area.

Senior Superintendent Benjardi Mantele, Caloocan City police chief, identified the suspects as Reynaldo de la Cruz, 28, Jay Abad, 25, Roberto Belegonio, 25, Marlon Asa, 18, Romel Lopez, 26, and Ronald Santiago, 27.

The suspects were nabbed while reportedly reviewing a jueteng bet list on a suspected gambling den on Pilania Street, Area A, Camarin, Caloocan City at about 9 a.m. Friday. Police seized from the suspects jueteng paraphernalia and a total of P1,400 bet money.

The Caloocan City police, in cooperation with the office of Mayor Reynaldo Malonzo, created recently Task Force Get the Gamblers "GG" headed by Superintendent Dionicio Borromeo.

Malonzo ordered Task Force "GG" to go after all forms of illegal gambling in the city including saklang patay.

Gambling lords in Caloocan City were reportedly resorting to renting the dead as an excuse to the police for them to "go slow" on saklang patay for humanitarian reasons. Pete Laude
