6 hurt in Caloocan blast

Six persons were seriously injured in a grenade explosion in a bus terminal in Caloocan City Wednesday night. Police probers said a labor dispute may have triggered the blast.

Superintendent Loreto Malaybalay, Caloocan City police Sub-station 4 investigation chief, said the suspects are former members of the labor union who were recently laid off .

The victims were Joel Cura, 24; Mario Lucero, 44; Ruben Qurino, 56; Ricardo Marcilla, 34; Jimmy Latino, 30; all employees of Joyselle Express Inc., along Zabarte Road, Camarin and Jayson Patriarca, 15.

Investigation showed an unidentified suspect allegedly lobbed an M2K fragmentation grenade into the bus terminal at around 10:30 p.m. as several employees were preparing to go home. According to Malaybalay, a witness noticed two motorcycle-riding men at the corner of Zapote Road and Mangga street several minutes before the explosion. – Jerry Botial
