Narcs vow to unmask shabu lab protectors

The anti-narcotics unit of the Metro Manila police has vowed to unmask the protectors and coddlers of seven Chinese nationals and three Filipinos behind the operations of the raided shabu laboratory in Quezon City.

Three days after the successful raid at two houses in Loyola Heights, Quezon City, Senior Superintendent Nicasio Radovan, head of the Metro Manila Drug Enforcement Group (MMDEG), admitted they failed to identify the drug syndicates behind the shabu lab because the suspects refuse to cooperate in their investigation.

"The Chinese nationals continue to exercise their rights to remain silent. They refuse to answer questions regarding the shabu lab operations," said Radovan in an interview. A total of 54 kilos of high-grade shabu and 200 kilos of raw materials used in the manufacture of shabu estimated to be worth P120 million were recovered during the twin raids.

According to Radovan, they are sifting documents seized at 75 C Salvador St., and 15 Gonzales St., in Xavierville Subdivision which would help them identify the politicians and police protectors and coddlers of the Chinese nationals arrested at the shabu lab.

"We want to satisfy all questions in our minds. We want to know who are their protectors, coddlers and supporters so we can have a clear picture of their entire operations," said Radovan.

Radovan filed drug pushing and illegal possession of drugs charges against the suspects with the Quezon City prosecutor’s office at 5 p.m. Saturday. – Non Alquitran
