Drinking buddy kills policeman

A member of the Southern Tagalog command of the Philippine National Police was gunned down by his drinking partner the other night in Muntinlupa City.

The victim was identified as SPO4 Marianito Tato, 52, a resident of135 Captain Tiago St., Rizal Village, Barangay Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Based on the initial investigation conducted by the Muntinlupa Police, the incident took place at around 8 p.m. last Friday along Captain Tiago Street.

The victim was drinking with four of his companions in the house of a certain Superintendent Conrado Lainez which was undergoing renovation.

The four men enjoyed their drinking for more than an hour when an argument suddenly broke out between Tato and Leopoldo Angay, the security guard of Lainez.

At the height of the argument, Angay drew his .38 caliber service firearm and opened fire at Tato.

As the three other men stood shocked at what happened, the suspect took off, taking his gun with him.

Tato was rushed to the Muntinlupa Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by the doctors as a result of multiple gunshot wounds all over his body.

In Makati City, a mechanical engineer is facing a charge of bigamy after his original wife discovered him to be married to another woman.

The suspect was identified as Salvador Sabalrino, 41, a contractor and resident of 193-G 29th Avenue, Barangay East Rembo, Makati City.

His first wife Lilia Lacibal, personally filed the complaint against her husband as soon as she found out about his second marriage.

SPO4 Aurelia Go, officer-in-Charge of the Makati Police Women and Children’s Desk, identified the second wife as Claricel Calacay, 27, a teacher of the Las Pinas Elementary School.

Sabalrino and Calacay were arrested by the Makati Police the other day and admitted that they were married under Muslim rites. Calacay also admitted that they already have a child.

Lacibal expressed her grief over her husband’s infidelity and the burden left on her to raise their three children alone.

She added that she would ask for the revocation of Calacay’s license to teach. Marvin Sy
