Barangay scholars in QC

-
A public service project that aims to provide free six months technical vocational education for youngsters of Quezon City is again in full swing.

Barangay Iskolar is a part of Councilor Dante de Guzman’s city youth development agenda implemented through the LPL Basic Skills Training Center in cooperation with the office of the City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte, Jr., Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista, and the Asian Pacific Golden Heart Foundation, Inc. (APGHI).

The project features six-month courses accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) namely automotive mechanics, electronics technology, alternative physical therapy and basic computer courses.

Names of successful applicants are posted at the Quezon City Hall. "Education is an indispensable tool for personal and social development and I believe that education of our youth shall be given high regard and importance since in the youth lies the future of our country," said De Guzman.

Other programs and projects of De Guzman include "Kabuhayang Pinoy," a livelihood project aimed to enhance and develop entrepreneurial skills of residents of Quezon City, and "Yamang Kalusugan" which is a health program that includes medical and dental missions and immunization/administration of vitamins for children.
