Smart executive slain

Homicide investigators of the Western Police District are baffled by the fatal shooting of a SMART telecoms merchandiser in Sampaloc, Manila, early yesterday morning.
Police identified the victim as Roderick Pomeda, 32, of 1464 Instruccion street, Sampaloc, Manila.
According to initial police investigation, the victim and his unidentified wife were walking home after buying something from a convenience store when two unidentified men armed with pistols blocked their path at about 12:30 a.m. in front of the Laundry Pal laundry shop along Laong Laan Street.
After shooting the victim several times in the body, the suspects fled on foot. Pomeda was rushed to the University of Santo Tomas Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Investigators are looking at the possibility that the incident could have been triggered by a personal grudge. Mike Frialde
