Police are now hunting at least three unidentified armed men who shot to death early yesterday morning a 56-year-old man in Novaliches, Quezon City.
Victim Benito Caceres, a laborer, of 42 Ignacio St., Barangay Gulod, Novaliches, sustained bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.
The killers, all armed with handguns, fled right after the shooting. Police said Caceres might have been killed due to a land dispute with the gunmen.
Caceres was with his friend, Dante Manacup, talking inside his home at about 4 a.m. when the assailants suddenly barged in. Without saying anything, the gunmen opened fire on Caceres.
The victim was hit in the chest and abdomen and collapsed to the ground. The assailants immediately fled the scene, leaving Caceres dead on the floor and Manacup unharmed.
Operatives of the Central Police District are now conducting follow-up operations to determine the gunmens identities and whereabouts. Matthew Estabillo
