He finally made it on his third try.
Orlonde Pajares, a 55-year-old widower ended his life yesterday on his third suicide try in his house in Marikina City.
Pajares, of Block 35 Palay St., Tumana, Barangay Concepcion Uno, Marikina City was found dead hanging from a wooden beam of his house, with a nylon cord looped around his neck.
Superintendent Cipriano Querol Jr., Marikina City police chief, said a neighbor, Casimiro Miguello, 50, discovered Pajares body at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Pajares, who was suffering from asthma, had been living alone for years.
Miguello said it was the third time that Pajares tried to end his life.
A couple of months ago, Pajares slashed his wrists but survived when neighbors rushed him to a nearby hospital.
Last month, Pajares tried it again by looping a wire around his body and plugging it into an electric socket. However, he pulled the plug out when his body started convulsing and before he could be electrocuted.
Querol claimed that the last time Miguello saw the victim alive was in the morning of Thursday when Pajares dropped by his house.
Miguello said Pajares did not show any sign that he would end his life for good this time.
Meanwhile, a 29-year-old woman was found dead in the rented room of her boyfriends mother Thursday night in San Juan.
The San Juan police are now hunting down the boyfriend, Ramiro Olazo, to shed light on the mysterious death of Perla Mendoza, a resident of Block 24 Palmera Hills 6, Taytay, Rizal.
Mendozas body was discovered by Jocelyn Gamboa in the rented room of Olazos mother at 155 F. Manalo St., Barangay Kabayanan, San Juan at around 10 p.m. Thursday.
According to Gamboa, a fellow boarder, Lani Mapa, told her that the exhaust fan of the Olazos was still running despite the absence of the mother who had gone home to the province.
Gamboa said she used her key that also fitted the Olazos door knob to open the door. To her surprise, she saw Mendoza lying on the bed, dead.
Investigation conducted by the Scene of the Crime Office (SOCO) showed that Mendoza could have been dead for about eight hours. Her body bore no external injuries.
However, several residents told probers they saw Mendoza together with her boyfriend Ramiro (Olazo) enter the house at around 12 midnight of July 3. It was the last time that Mendoza was seen alive. Ramiro was nowhere to be found.
