Tinga backs IT program

-
Mayor Freddie Tinga launched the provision of free computer classes to Grade 5 and 6 students in public elementary schools in Taguig as part of its "Cabana may Dunong sa Teknolohiya" project.

Staffers of the Taguig Information Technology Office under Jeff Minglana will supervise the free classes on basic computer operations, MSOffice 2000 and Utilities. There will be two classes per day from Monday to Friday.

"We would like to erase the wrong perception that public schools can only provide low quality education. Our public school teachers are working twice as hard to give students a high standard of education and we from the local government would like to help them pursue this goal," Tinga said.

Tinga said elementary students deserve to be at pace with fast developments in information technology (IT) to better prepare them for higher levels of learning.

Education is one of the primary platforms of Tinga’s development program for Taguig, the other two being environment and employment.
