Former AMA exec arrested by cops

A former top executive of the AMA Group of Companies was arrested yesterday for two counts of attempted homicide filed against him by a court sheriff and policemen last month.
Manuel Abad, former executive vice president of the AMA Group, was nabbed in the rest room of a restaurant in Sta. Lucia Mall in Marikina City around at 11:30 a.m.
Central Police District (CPD) authorities led by PO3 Rogelio Espebes effected the arrest and brought Abad to Camp Karingal in Quezon City where he is now detained.
The arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant issued last Friday by Quezon City Municipal Trial Court (QCMTC) Judge Ralph Lee.
Abad is facing two counts of homicide filed by Muntinlupa City sheriff Benito Cusi and two Quezon City policemen.
Abad, resident of 12 Kingship, Vermont Royale Subdivision, Antipolo City, was reportedly placed under police surveillance, prompting him to go into hiding at No. 65 Camaro corner Dark Street, West Fairview.
Abad, who was also charged with disobedience to lawful order in the Quezon City Prosecutors Office, reportedly issued instructions to their security guards to shoot Cusi and policemen serving a court order in his hospice center in Fairview last May 2.
Cusi filed the complaint with Fairview police operatives together with PO1 Regie Glariana and PO1 Edgardo Galang, who both assisted the sheriff in serving the court order.
Abads wife, Agnes Enquito-Abad, was also charged as they both own the Asian Institute of Health Care where the attack happened.
The Abads are already facing charges of unfair competition and damages with prayer for writ of preliminary attachment in the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court for putting up rival institutions while holding the second top position in the AMA Group.
In his affidavit, Cusi said he was ordered to serve and implement an order of Muntinlupa City Executive Judge Norma Parello on the writ of preliminary attachment filed by the AMA Group of Companies against the Abads.
When he informed the guards in the place that he was implementing the court order, he was told that the watchmen had been instructed by the Abads to shoot anybody who tried to enter the premises.
When he was denied entry, Cusi said he sawed the gate of the premises and was about to enter when the security guards started firing at him and the policemen. Katherine Adraneda
