DBM man shot, nabbed by cops

-
A 37-year-old government employee was shot and arrested during a high-speed chase and shootout with policemen Wednesday night after he stopped an anti-car theft police operation in La Loma, Quezon City.

Suspect Arnaldo Dubon, 37, an employee of the Department of Budget and Management, sustained a bullet wound in the nape.

Police confiscated Dubon’s firearm, a .38 caliber revolver, and found two sachets of shabu in his possession. Criminal charges have been filed against him in the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office. Bail of P148,000 was recommended.

The incident occurred at about 11:45 p.m. at the corner of Banawe and Maria Clara Streets, in Barangay Sta. Mesa Heights, La Loma. PO3 Rocco Matic and PO2 Francisco Macatantay were conducting surveillance on a stolen gray Honda Civic, with plate number SCE-090. They were on board a Toyota Revo van at the time. Sources said that Dubon, who was driving a Mitsubishi Gallant (PJE-874), blocked the path of the police vehicle as it was pursuing the stolen car.

This allowed the driver of the Honda Civic to escape along with the car. Dubon then sped-off, triggering a high-speed chase that took them all the way to Atok Street, also in La Loma. Matthew Estabillo
