Burned woman’s kin seeks NBI help

-
The family of the woman who was burned alive and left for dead in Parañaque City early this month has sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in solving her brutal murder.

The woman has been identified as Maryelaine Cruz Sanez, 34, of Queensrow Subdivision, Molino, Bacoor, Cavite.

While her family said they are satisfied with the investigation being conducted by the Parañaque police, they still want the NBI’s assistance, said Sanez’s cousin, lawyer Raymond Delemos.

The family and the police remain clueless on who could have killed Sanez, a mother of two and a former seawoman. They also do not have any motive as well.

But both are not discounting the possibility that Sanez had been raped before being set on fire alive. She was severely burned from the head to the torso.

Delemos said the family is still waiting for the NBI to release the medico-legal report.

Case investigator SPO Rodolfo Balacuay of the Parañaque City police Criminal Investigation Division (CID) said the suspects burned Sanez hoping that she would no longer be recognized by her family. But Sanez was identified by family members through a scar on her thigh.

Sanez was found barely alive on June 3 by a traffic enforcer along the seawall of Roxas Boulevard near the Airport Road in front of BM Tower.

Police found no witnesses who could help in the investigation despite the area being a busy thoroughfare. Sanez will be cremated tomorrow at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque. – Nikko Dizon
