NBI raids drugstore in Binondo

-
Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation raided a Chinese drugstore in Binondo, Manila, for allegedly illegally distributing a popular brand of a Korean red ginseng product.

Raided by NBI agents last May 22 was the Suy Chong Chinese Drug Store located at 622 T. Alonzo Street. Seized during the raid were five boxes of Korean red ginseng extract capsules bearing the Cheong-Kwan-Jang trademark and the Insam Corporation trade name.

Also arrested during the raid was Rodell Ortiz, alias Tan King Lim. The NBI said Ortiz was nabbed after he received marked cash from a poseur-buyer in exchange for the purchase of the ginseng products.

According to the NBI, the raid on the drugstore was prompted by a complaint filed on April 9 by officials of the Insam Corporation whose office is located at Unit 401 Kassel Condominium, 2625 Taft Avenue, Manila. – Mike Frialde
