Chinoy trader shot by drunk temple guard

-
A Chinese businessman was shot dead by a drunken security guard of a Chinese temple in Sta. Cruz, Manila, yesterday morning.

Investigators identified the victim as Ang Chun Hua, 56, of 1007 Tambacan St., Sta. Cruz, Manila. Police said the victim was walking past the Kim She Temple along Tambacan street at about 1:30 a.m. when he saw suspect Eddie Andaya toying with his caliber .38 revolver.

Police said that the victim cautioned Andaya against toying with his gun. But instead of heeding the warning, Andaya allegedly got piqued and engaged the victim in a verbal tussle.

Shortly thereafter, Andaya allegedly fired at the victim, hitting him once in the chest. Police said the victim died while being treated at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center while the suspect fled on foot with the gun. He is now being hunted by the police.

In La Loma, Quezon City, an unidentified assailant shot and killed a 26-year-old policewoman late Thursday afternoon.

Police identified the victim as Police Officer 1 Carolina Caboboy of the La Loma police station. She died while being taken to the National Orthopedic Hospital.

Investigation showed that the rookie policewoman was on board a Manila-bound jeep on Retiro st., near Alejo street at around 5:30 p.m. when she was shot at close range by the motorcycle-riding suspect.

Investigators said they have no clue on the motive of the slaying, saying that the victim had no known enemy.
