The center was created by virtue of a city ordinance sponsored by two ladies, Councilors Cherry Lynne Pablo-Santos and Teresita Pillas last March.
Barely two months after the drafting of the ordinance, Bahay Tuluyan now stands proud beside the Barangay Hall in Vergara, this city.
The need for such a center came after reports of domestic violence involving women and children reached the city administration through the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the National Police-Womens and Childrens Desk.
"This facility will be a support structure for our constituents who suffer from abuse right within their homes," Pablo-Santos said. "Our program will focus on early detection and intervention as far as domestic violence is concerned."
Mayor Benhur Abalos Jr. for his part said he is glad of the fast completion of the center.
"The implementation of such a worthwhile pro-women, pro-family program should be fully supported if only to ensure that our city continues to be peaceful," the mayor said.
The crisis center, under the supervision of the local DSWD and the PNP women and childrens desk, is created through the cooperation of the Kababaihan Kakaiba ng Mandaluyong (KKM).
