The ArthritisCare and Research Foundation of the Philippines (ArthritisCare) has received financial support from two leading international pharmaceutical companies, Pharmacia Phils., Inc. and Pfizer Inc. enabling them to continue their operations this year.
The commitment was cemented with the signing of a memorandum of agreement between officials of the two drug firms and ArthritisCare wherein the two companies vowed to fund the foundations operation for the year.
ArthritisCare was established several years ago as a coordinating agency that helps patients suffering from various forms of arthritis. From its office in Quezon City, the foundation sustains a comprehensive program for public information and education, research, investigative studies and training opportunities for upgrading technical skills of medical and allied professionals.
Through the assistance of Pharmacia and Pfizer in the last three years, the foundation has been publishing simple to understand educational materials such as patient information series pamphlets on topics like osteoarthritis, arthritis and exercise, arthritis in children, gout, soft tissue rheumatism, systemic lupus erythematosus, and other rheumatism-related sicknesses.
Dr. Sandra Navarra, ArthritisCare director, is confident that with the continued support of Pfizer and Pharmacia, their organization will continue to help arthritis patients deal with their debilitating ailments. Rainier Allan Ronda
