A 50-year-old Filipino-Chinese businessman was shot dead inside his car by four unidentified armed men the other night near his home in Barangay Maharlika, Quezon City.
Victim Charles Uy, of 64 Malaya St., Barangay Maharlika, sustained bullet wounds in the head and body and expired at the United Doctors Medical Center where he was brought.
The assailants, armed with caliber .45 pistols, fled on board a maroon-colored vehicle with no license plates. Police believe they were hired killers. Investigators have yet to determine the motive for the killing. Uys wife is being questioned by police. Sources said his wife caught him having an extra-marital affair.
Operatives of the Central Police District added this is the second time Uy was ambushed. He was first shot and injured a few months ago also near his residence.
Initial reports showed that Uy was killed at about 10:30 p.m. along Malaya Street. He was on board his white Mitsubishi Lancer (WAZ-650) when his path was blocked by the killers vehicle. The gunmen alighted from their car and without warning, repeatedly shot Uy in the head and chest. Uy collapsed on the passenger seat.
The armed men immediately boarded their vehicle and sped-off towards Araneta Avenue. Uy was rushed to the hospital but died at about 11 a.m. the following morning. Matthew Estabillo
