Makati padlocks 3 joints

-
Three popular hangouts along Jupiter Street in Makati City were ordered closed by the City Engineering Department for operating without the necessary permits.

Padi’s Point, Tia Maria’s and Bedrock were padlocked by the City Engineer’s Office for showcasing live bands without a permit.

The action of the city government was based on the complaint of the Bel-Air Village Association (BAVA) about the noise created by the three establishments and their nightly live bands.

A residential subdivision, Barangay Bel-Air is situated directly behind the bars along Jupiter Street.

BAVA officials revealed the illegal operation of the three establishments to the city government because their permits allowed them to operate only as bars without live band shows.

City Engineer Nelson Morales dispatched his staff to the three bars and confirmed that they had no permits to use their establishments for live band entertainment. The three establishments were found violating Section 309 of the National Building Code or Certificate of Occupancy and Article 694 of Title VIII on nuisance of the Civil Code of the Philippines.

According to Morales, the three establishments would remain closed until they could come up with the necessary permits.– Marvin Sy
