Angono symphonic band to honor artist San Pedro

The memories of Maestro Lucio San Pedro will be honored tonight in a special performance of the Angono National Symphonic Band at the wake of the national artist in Angono, Rizal.
Performance starts at 8 p.m. The event is open to the public.
"We will be playing selected pieces of the great maestro including Suit Pastorale, Dalagang Mahinhin, The Voyage Overture, and Lahing Kayumanggi," said Gabby Rojas, grandson of San Pedro and spokesperson of the family. "We also thank all the other marching bands who came since last week to pay their last respect to the Maestro," added Rojas.
Since Wednesday, April 3, marching bands from neighboring towns have been performing nightly in honor of the National Artist such as Banda malaya of Taytay, Rizal, GHQ Army Band, and Angono Concert Band. The ANSB has been under the tutelage of San Pedro since 1933.
Maestro San Pedro died of cardiac arrest on March 31. His remains lie in state at his residence at the National Road, in Angono, Rizal. The national artist for music is best remembered for his composition "Sa Ugoy ng Duyan.
"We will bring his remains to the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) for the necrological services tomorrow morning," said Rojas. Mona Nieva
