Airport ready for Holy Week

-
Airport authorities will maintain order and security at the Manila Domestic Airport despite the expected huge volume of domestic passengers during the Lenten Season.

"Oplan Mahal Na Araw," includes the installation of Passenger Help Desks manned by airport personnel and flight monitoring counters to assist passengers, especially those in the waiting lists.

MIAA General Manager Edgardo Manda assured passengers that the Airport Police will be out in full force to foil any unlawful attempts on travelers. He urged travelers to immediately report any suspicious-looking person to any airport policeman.

Judith Dolot, NAIA’s public affairs manager, explained that Passenger Help Desks are not only for assisting passengers in boarding their flights, but also to prevent the wait-listed from falling victim to scalpers.

Wait-listed passengers will be computerized to prevent passenger congestion at the counters and prevent haggling, Manda said. For their convenience, Manda urged passengers to check in two hours before their flights.

The airport clinic will be open 24 hours a day for the Holy Week, Manda said, while complaints will be entertained round-the-clock.

Manda also said airport police will be deployed in the vicinity of the airports to help ease vehicular and passenger traffic and prevent missed flights.

"Let me also reiterate the use of pushcarts in the airports is free," Manda added. — Rey Arquiza
