Muntinlupa cops face raps for slay
March 19, 2002 | 12:00am
Homicide charges were filed against two Muntinlupa policemen who shot and killed a nephew of a city councilor after they mistook his pellet toy gun for the real firearm.
Police Officers 1 Adonis Dimapilis, and Noli Priol, were charged for killing Allan Almario, 22, before midnight of Saturday along Meralco Road in Sucat. A third cop at the scene of the incident, Senior Police Officer 1 Edison Pampag, was not charged because he was reportedly standing far away when the shooting happened.
Dimapilis has reportedly confessed to the shooting, claiming self-defense. Priol is charged as a conspirator.
The policemen alleged that the victim, despite a warning shot from the responding cops, pointed his gun at them, prompting Dimapilis to open fire. Almario, a nephew of incumbent Councilor Dante Almario, died at the nearby Parañaque Medical Center. Jose Aravilla
