NBI seizes computers in Pasig

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation seized 117 personal and laptop computer units for allegedly using pirated Microsoft software in Pasig City last week.

The computer units were seized during a raid conducted last Feb. 22 by agents of the NBI’s Intellectual Property Rights Division at the office of Cylynx Philippines/Ciscare Technology/GT Solution Inc. located on the 9th and 10th floors of the Pacific Center Building, San Miguel Avenue, Pasig City.

NBI investigators identified the directors of the firm as Stanley Tan, Dona Rayo, Jennifer Escasa, Blue Tanhueco, Virginia Tirona and Yi Weng Chung alias "Allan Chung."

NBI-IPRD chief Rafael Ragos told reporters that the raid on the computer firm stemmed from a complaint lodged with the NBI by the Quisumbing-Torres Law Office and IP Manila Associates, representing Microsoft corporation.

Investigation conducted by the NBI showed that the firm allegedly used unlicensed Microsoft software such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Vision. Mike Frialde
