Jail guard kills guard in Parañaque
February 26, 2002 | 12:00am
Two married men. One mistress.
A Parañaque City jail guard shot dead a colleague in an apparent fit of jealousy Monday morning.
Police said suspect Jail Officer 3 Charlie Ramirez, 32, of Coral Street, Tondo, Manila pumped seven bullets into Senior Jail Officer (SJO) 2 Endolfo Sta. Ana, Jr., 42. Sta. Ana, of Guadalupe Bliss, Makati, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Olivarez General Hospital.
Initial investigation showed that the incident happened at 10:20 a.m. inside the Parañaque City Jail Barracks.
According to Jail Warden Pepe Quinones, the suspect barged into the barracks and without warning, repeatedly shot Sta. Ana.
"When Ramirez surrendered to me, he told me that he killed Sta. Ana because of a woman," Quinones said, but refused to elaborate.
During interrogation, however, Ramirez claimed that Sta. Ana had been blocking his transfer to another city jail and eventually earned his (Ramirez) ire ultimately resulting in the killing, said case investigator SPO2 Odeo Carino.
But when told about Quinones report that the killing was sparked by an alleged love triangle, Carino admitted his own doubts and that this could be the suspects real motive.
"Masyadong mababaw kasi kung tungkol lang sa transfer. Ayaw lang i-confirm ni Ramirez at ng mga kaibigan nung biktima dahil pareho kasi silang may-asawa," Carino said.
