City investigation chief Inspector Salvador de la Cruz Armando Hernandez of Arkong Bato, Valenzuela City is under observation at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRMMC) due to a gunshot wound in the body inflicted by a bullet from a still undetermined handgun.
The unidentified suspect is still at large.
De la Cruz said the incident happened at around 7:30 Wednesday night along M.H. del Pilar Street in Barangay Arkong-Bato. After the collision, the suspect alighted from his vehicle and confronted the victim.
As they argued, the victim allegedly got an iron pipe and shattered the windshield of the suspect’s jeepney.
Seeing this, the suspect quickly pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the left side of his body before fleeing the scene.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old jobless man died from a gunshot wound in the head he himself inflicted during a drinking session with friends early yesterday morning in Quezon City.
Henry Dimalaluan of 1538 Dimasalang Extension, Parañaque City, who succumbed to a gunshot wound in the right temple, expired before reaching the Martinez Hospital, probers said.
Police records showed the incident took place at around 12:45 Thursday morning in a house on Binangonan Street, Maypajo, Caloocan City.
Prior to the incident, the victim was seen drinking liquor and beer with friends Edilberto Aboy, Rey Cana and Martin Lontok. Later on, as the spirits took the better of his senses, witnesses said Dumalaluan whipped out a caliber .38 pistol from his waist and started playing with it.
Boasting that the gun would not fire because it was empty, the victim pulled the trigger several times.
To prove his point even further, the victim pointed his gun one more time at his right temple. This time, the gun barked, sending Dimalaluan dead on the floor, witnesses told probers. – Jerry Botial
