It really pays to be honest.
Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay has commended Mario Enriquez, an employee of the Department of Environmental and Sanitation (DES) for returning a check of P10,000 which was misplaced during the Christmas party of Genesis Montessori Learning Center (GMLC) Inc. at Makati Park and Garden last Dec. 8.
Enriquez, 38, a janitor assigned at the Makati Park and Garden and residing at 714 Lanzones St., Barangay Comembo, found the pay-to-cash check while he was cleaning the area after the party. Enriquez informed Jesus Taberna, one of the staff of Makati Park and Garden, who helped him call and notify the administration of GMLC Inc.
A grateful Virgie Dimacali, GMLC Inc. president, invited Enriquez to their office and gave him a cash reward. She also sent food for the staff of Makati Park and Garden, as a way of thanking them.
"We are happy and very grateful because we not only received good services from the Makati Park and Garden administration during our party, we found out that their employees are honest," Dimacali said.
Binay, who was all praises for Enriquez for setting a good example, said, "What he did only shows that employees of Makati are not only honest in dealing with their jobs but also decent, principled and upright. I hope everybody would emulate the good example that Enriques had shown."
Enriquez has been working as janitor for 12 years.
