Fokker plane overshoots runway

A Fokker-27 turbo-prop plane with eight passengers and crew overshot the runway while landing at 3:21 p.m. yesterday at the Manila Domestic Airport.

No one was reportedly hurt.

The plane, owned and operated by Laoag Air, was originally bound for Masbate but was returning to Manila due to a hydraulic malfunction and a steering problem.

The still unidentified pilots advised the Manila Control Tower of an emergency landing. It overshot runway 06-24 on touchdown due to the defect in the plane’s steering mechanism.

Airport fire and rescue teams towed the plane to its hangar to clear the runway for other aircrafts.

The names of the crew and passengers were not immediately available. Rey Arquiza
