Gay caught in the act

A 31-year-old gay and a teenage call boy were caught in the act and arrested early Thursday night in the parking lot of a shopping mall in Caloocan City.

Suspects Herwin Adriano, 31, of 12 Mariano Street, Marulas, Valenzuela City was caught by the mall’s watchmen performing oral sex on his 17-year-old partner whose identity The STAR withheld.

Police said Adriano was caught doing it in a dark portion of the third level parking area of the Gotesco Grand Central Mall in Monumento at around 7 p.m.

In his testimony to the police, the suspected call boy said he agreed to Adriano’s indecent proposal for P300 in a comfort room and they proceeded to a relatively isolated part of the parking lot to consummate the act.

Suspecting that something was amiss in the behavior of the two, alert security guards followed the two and pounced on them at the height of the action.

In Quezon City, mountain bikes are far from being state-of-the-art equipment for fighting criminality.

But they served their purpose when two policemen on bike patrol arrested Thursday a suspected snatcher.

Police Officers 1 Rogelio Nacional Jr. and Rodolfo Carganilla of the Central Police District (CPD) Station 7 Bike Patrol collared suspect Roland Manzano, 21, who allegedly snatched a necklace and pendant from Nancy Yanez of Antipolo City, said Police Chief Superintendent Rodolfo Asel Tor, CPD director.

Investigation showed that Yanez, 39, was waiting for a ride to work at around 6:45 a.m. along Aurora Boulevard corner Annapolis Street in Cubao when Manzano, of Block 18, Lot 17, Phase I-D, Kasiglahan, Rodriguez, Rizal, suddenly grabbed her necklace worth P1,500.

Manzano immediately fled with his loot while Yanez’s screams for help caught the attention of the policemen who were on patrol.

Nacional and Carganilla mounted on mountain bikes chased and collared the suspect.

Manzano is now detained at CPD Station 7 awaiting proper charges. – Jerry Botial and Nikko Dizon
