‘Pedophile’ preys on 5 kids

- Jerry Botial -
Police arrested yesterday an alleged pedophile for molesting five minors - four girls and one boy - after forcing them to drink liquor in Caloocan City early yesterday morning.

The Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Caloocan City police identified the suspect as Reynaldo Mahumot, 33, married and residing at 130 J. Mariano Street.

He is being held at the police detention cell pending filing of statutory rape charges against him.

The victims, all minors with ages ranging from eight to 12 years, were accompanied by their parents when they filed their complaint with the WCPD.

Probers said the victims told them they were allegedly molested at around 1 early yesterday morning inside a passenger jeepney parked near the suspect’s residence.

Police gathered that the victims, way past their bedtime and playing on the street, were offered some bread by the suspect who took them to the parked jeepney. The hungry children were only too grateful as they excitedly jostled for the food. After eating, the suspect, who was allegedly reeking of liquor, offered them beer which he was drinking. The victims, quite naturally, refused but with the suspect glaring at them at the same time assuring that there was no problem in drinking beer, they grudgingly accepted.

As alcohol took its effect on the children, the suspect then told them to undress. The now scared children could not do anything but follow the suspect’s bidding as, one-by-one, he fondled their young bodies. After they were molested, they were threatened not to tell anyone about it or else something bad would happen to them.

As the minors reached home, however, they reported to their parents what happened.

The parents immediately sought police assistance. The suspect was apprehended before he could escape. He, however, denied the children’s accusations.
