December 25, 2001 | 12:00am
Police arrested a 25-year-old man yesterday after he ran berserk and stabbed a man who tried to calm him down in Caloocan City.
Police identified the suspect as Pedro Amper Jr. of Plapla corner Pusit Streets, Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan City. Amper has been detained on charges of frustrated homicide.
Dexter Valdez, 22, single and the suspects neighbor, sustained a cut on the left eyebrow.
SPO2 Antonio Peñaranda, of the Caloocan police Station Investigation and Intelligence Division (SIID) said the stabbing took place at around 7 a.m. yesterday.
Valdez said he was fetching water not far from his house when he noticed a commotion which turned out to have been caused by the suspect who, already drunk, was creating trouble. Brandishing a knife, the suspect was allegedly challenging everyone to a fight. Being known to the suspect, the victim tried to calm down the suspect but the latter allegedly lunged at him.
