3 Malabon alleged drug pushers fall

-
Elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Northern Field Office and the Metro Manila Drug Enforcement Group north sector, arrested three alleged notorious drug pushers in a series of operations last Saturday in Malabon.

Suspects Abading Mandac, 31, and his brother Jay Jay, 20, both of 81 Adante street, Barangay Tañong, Malabon City, were arrested with about .57 grams of shabu at about 4:20 p.m.

The suspects were apprehended by a team led by Inspector Ed Regalado and PO2 Joaquin Rafael Florendo after they reportedly handed to a police poseur-buyer a sachet of shabu worth P1,000. Charges were immediately filed against the two brothers with the Malabon City prosecutor’s office. Prosecutor Pacifico Flores recommended P120,000 bail for the two suspects’ temporary liberty.

Another buy-bust operation led by SPO4 Ric Ravina and Regalado on Gervacio street in Barangay Hulong Duhat, Malabon, at about 8 p.m. resulted in the arrest of another alleged notorious drug peddler. Renato dela Cruz, 58, of 10-B Gervacio street, Barangay Hulong Duhat, yielded 11 sachets of shabu.

Superintendent Gene Ines Abrajano, CIDG-NFO chief, said that Dela Cruz has been arrested at least four times in the past for the same offense but was always bailed out of jail. Interviewed in his cell, Dela Cruz admitted being a drug pusher but only a small-time one and that he got his supply of shabu in Pasig City. Dela Cruz also said that several of his women customers get their supply from him in exchange for sex.

The three suspects are now locked up in the Malabon City Jail. Meanwhile, a Malabon City Jail inmate died of a heart attack early yesterday morning, police said.

Vergilio Alegson, 48, facing a frustrated murder case, died at about 4:15 a.m. while being rushed to the Pagamutang Lunsod ng Malabon (PLM).

Police said that Alegson complained of chest pains to his fellow inmates who immediately called on the jail guards who brought him to PLM but Dr. Emerlito Bungay, the attending physician, pronounced him dead on arrival. – Pete Laude
