Tricycle drivers brawl

Because of a mere P3, a 50-man brawl ensued the other day in Quezon City, and a 30-year-old tricycle driver and his colleague were gunned down and stabbed dead respectively, while another was reportedly hacked.

Morris del Pilar, of 4-C Republic Ave., Fairview, and Jamalul Masang, 31 of 113 Lilac St. Fairview, sustained bullet wounds and stab wounds in the body, respectively, and were pronounced dead on arrival at the Far Eastern University Hospital.

The third victim, Danny Ausalin, 47, also a tricycle driver and a resident of Fairview, suffered hack wounds in the body and is now in critical condition at the same hospital.

According to PO2 Rogelio Esteves, the incident took place at about 12:30 p.m. near Reglado corner Commonwealth Avenue, right in front of Fairview Centermall.

Police sources said that Ausalin failed to tip P3 to a barker, a certain "Caesar", and a heated altercation ensued. Before long, Ausalin’s group and Caesar’s gang were involved in the argument.

A rumble ensued between the two groups, according to Esteves, consisting about 50 men. Del Pilar was shot in the chest in the process, while Masang was stabbed and hacked in the stomach.

Ausalin also sustained several hack wounds in different parts of the body. Responding policemen immediately arrived at the scene as the men involved in the brawl scampered to different directions to avoid arrest.

Del Pilar was rushed to the hospital where he expired at about 1:05 p.m., while Masang, despite his critical state, was able to get to the hospital’s lobby by himself, but collapsed before reaching the emergency room. Matthew Estabillo and Nikko Dizon
