Traffic rerouting set in Caloocan
November 30, 2001 | 12:00am
Caloocan City bared yesterday a rerouting plan for motorists in commemoration of Gat. Andres Bonifacios 138th birth anniversary at the rotunda named after the hero.
City police chief Superintendent Benjardi Mantele said he ordered the deployment of additional uniformed and plainclothes policemen to provide security to participants in this years celebration with the theme "Ang Simulain ng Katipunan, Ituloy Natin sa Kinabukasan."
"The police are also alerted on possible mass actions and civil disturbance which may be initiated by pressure groups taking advantage of the rites," Mantele said.
Superintendent Dionicio Borromeo, Station Intelligence and Investigation Division (SIID) chief, said that rerouting of vehicles was drawn to anticipate traffic problems before and during rites to be held right at the Bonifacio Monument Circle (BMC).
All vehicles coming from Rizal Avenue Extension towards MacArthur Highway and Valenzuela City must turn right along 10th Avenue, turn left along A. de Jesus St. going to EDSA then take Balintawak Cloverleaf to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) to their point of destination.
Vehicles coming from Rizal Avenue Ext. bound for Malabon and Navotas will be directed to turn left along 10th Ave. then right turn to A. Mabini St. going to Sangandaan junction up to their point of destination.
All vehicles coming from EDSA going to Manila will be directed to turn left at B. Serrano St. then turn right at 10th Ave. then turn left at Rizal Ave. Ext. to their point of destination.
The entrance of BMC up to 11th Avenue will be a parking area for vehicles of participating local and national government officials and civic and non-government organizations. Jerry Botial
