House painter electrocuted in Sampaloc

A house painter was electrocuted in Sampaloc, Manila the other day after the ladder he was using accidentally touched a high-tension wire.

Homicide investigators of the Western Police District identified the victim as Rogelio Sorbito, 46, of Purok 5, Lawin St., Quezon City, who died while undergoing treatment at the Chinese General Hospital.

Police said Sorbito died after being rushed to hospital with third-degree burns in the arms and body.

Nelson Amodia, the victim’s helper, of 1699 Lawin St., Riverside, Commonwealth, Quezon City, was also rushed to the Chinese General Hospital for severe burns in the left arm.

According to police, Sorbito was painting a house at 1415 Ibarra St., when the ladder he and his helper were using accidentally touched a live wire. Witnesses said Sorbito was thrown off the ladder onto the roof after the jolt.
