Guard shot dead inside QC church

Police are on the lookout for two armed men who robbed and shot dead a 23-year-old security guard inside a church in Barangay Sangandaan, Quezon City Wednesday.

Rolando Cabria, of 38-B General St., GSIS Village, Barangay Sangandaan, sustained a bullet wound in the body and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Quezon City General Hospital.

The two gunmen, riding tandem on a Suzuki motorcycle, escaped after the shooting.

Initial reports showed that the incident occurred at about 5:50 p.m. at the main entrance of Holy Palace Pentecost Church Tabernacle located at 9-Tourist Drive, GSIS Village.

Cabria was manning his post at the church when the robbers stopped at the entrance. One of the gunmen alighted from the motorcycle and without warning, shot the victim in the left shoulder.

The two suspects then proceeded to take the bleeding Cabria’s wallet and service firearm – a caliber .38 revolver.

They immediately fled the scene on board the motorcycle.

Cabria was rushed to the hospital where he expired at about 6:30 p.m. Matthew Estabillo and Nikko Dizon
