Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jose Lina has cited the Muntinlupa City government led by Mayor Jaime Fresnedi for serving as a model local government unit in streamlining regulatory systems to cut red tape.
Muntinlupa was particularly cited by the DILG for its one-stop-shop system implemented by the Business Permit and License Office (BPLO) headed by Gary Llamas and the computerization of all its income-generating offices such as the Real Property Tax Administration of the City Assessors Office led by Florencio Ciriaco, the Treasury Office, and the Building Official.
The DILG Local Government Academy said the Muntinlupa was picked as one of the models based on reports and actual site observation.
Earlier, the Bureau of Investments mentioned Muntinlupa as one of the business-friendly cities, a statement echoed by various businessmen in the city.
Likewise, due to the best practices being conducted by the top-rate departments of Muntinlupa, delegates composed of public officials from regions one to five made a study-visit to the business-friendly city to learn more about the system in a presentation called "Best Practice in Eliminating Red Tape."
The program was also attended by Vice-Mayor Jo Jayson Alcaraz, Councilors Raffy Joaquin, Ryan Bagatsing and Jun Sevilla and the other department heads.
