Tondo student stabs drunken father dead for mauling mother

Apparently fed-up by the sight of his mother being mauled by his father, an 18-year-old student took justice into his own hands in Tondo, Manila, the other night.

Manila police are now tracking down Galahad Adlawan, who allegedly used a kitchen knife in stabbing to death his drunk father Orlando, 47, in the back.

Police said that prior to the incident, Orlando was having a drink with neighbors outside their house at 468 Area H, Parola Compound, Tondo, Manila at about 6:30 p.m.

Later, the already drunk victim entered the house and saw his wife Delma preparing some vegetables for dinner. Without provocation, he uttered some invectives and suddenly hit his wife with a pitcher filled with water and then started mauling her.

Relatives and neighbors later intervened and managed to pacify the victim. Orlando then went outside to rejoin his drinking buddies.

Police said the suspect then shortly arrived at their house and learned of the incident. Police said Galahad then proceeded to the kitchen and grabbed a kitchen knife.

Armed with the knife, Galahad approached his father and stabbed him in the right side of the back, in front of his shocked drinking buddies.

Orlando was rushed by his buddies to the nearby Gat Andres Bonifacio Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Galahad, meanwhile, fled after the incident.

Meanwhile, Manila police are now trying to identify a young man who was shot dead near Malacañang Palace just before dawn yesterday.

The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound in the head, was described as between 19 to 23 years in age, about 5’2" to 5’4" tall, and wore dark shorts and a "Danny Lacuna campaign" t-shirt.

Police said his body was found at about 3:45 a.m. near the corner of J.P. Laurel and Matienza Streets in San Miguel, Manila. Recovered at the scene was a chrome caliber .38 revolver with five live rounds, and a spent caliber .38 shell.

Initial investigation showed that the bullet entered the victim’s head through the left ear, and exited through the forehead.
