Alleged car thief arrested in Malabon

The Malabon police arrested yesterday morning an alleged car thief who was caught in possession of three stolen vehicles along McArthur Highway in Valenzuela City.

Malabon police chief, Superintendent Ernesto Fojas Jr., said suspect Edgardo de Leon, 46, of 203 Gov. Pascual Avenue, Sipac, Navotas pretended to be a buy-and-sell agent of second-hand vehicles while carrying out his illegal trade.

De Leon is now detained at the police headquarters as charges of car theft were filed against him.

Investigation showed the suspect was arrested at around 7:30 a.m. along McArthur Highway, Valenzuela City while driving a stolen owner-type stainless jeep (PT32) . He was accosted by SPO4 Arthur Quinones of the Valenzuela police.

During a follow-up operation conducted by the Malabon police’s Station Investigation Division (SID) headed by Senior Inspector Napoleon Bataycan, two more stolen vehicles were found in De Leon’s garage. – Jerry Botial
